The Real Time Information (RTI) system

Real Time Information enables HMRC to collect information about tax and other deductions each time employers run their payroll – as opposed to the old PAYE system where employers assign employee tax codes during the year before submitting this information at year end.

Under RTI, you must send details to HMRC every time you pay an employee, at the time you pay them, and use payroll software to send this information electronically as part of your routine payroll process.
